This is a comprehensive two day intensive course, that provides you with knowledge and skills to confidently begin funeral celebrant practice. As well as considering key theoretic ideas, you will develop a logical step-by-step process to plan, write, deliver and reflect on a funeral service. The workshop will introduce you to key knowledge and skills. Afterwards, you have the opportunity to develop these through targeted on-line assignments.
By the end of the course, you should be able to:
- Understand about early grief and the impact this can have on your role
- Describe the purposes of a funeral service
- Discuss funeral ceremony as a rite-of-passage ceremony
- Discuss funeral service structure and elements/components
- Explain ritual enactments and their meanings
- Identify key terms and roles in the funeral industry
- Describe a step-by-step process from booking to post-ceremony reflection
- Demonstrate effective client interviewing skills
- Identify health and safety requirements
- Develop key documents and resources
- Discuss self-care
- Interview a grieving family
- Write three funeral services
- Deliver a funeral service
